Welcome to Kidan ("ኪዳን" meaning Covenant). By creating an account, downloading the app, or using the Web Platform, you agree to these legally binding Terms of Service.

1. Eligibility Requirements

• You must be at least 18 years of age to create a profile.
• You must not have been convicted of any felony or sexual offense.
• You may only maintain one active personal account.

2. Zero-Tolerance Safety Rules

These rules are set out in full in our Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these Terms. How we respond to requests from police and other authorities is described in our Law Enforcement Guidelines.

Prohibited content and behaviour

The following are strictly prohibited on Kidan — in profiles, photos, messages, voice notes and any other content, and in any conduct connected with the service, on or off the platform:

1. Sexually explicit profile content. Nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit photos, text or voice notes, in a profile or anywhere else on Kidan.
2. Child sexual exploitation or abuse (CSAM). Any content or conduct that sexualises, exploits, grooms or endangers a child, including child sexual abuse material of any kind.
3. Sexual violence. Threatening, committing, promoting, glorifying or depicting rape, sexual assault or any other form of sexual violence.
4. Non-consensual content. Sharing, or threatening to share, intimate images, recordings or messages of any person without their consent (including “revenge porn” and sextortion), and any sexual content or contact that is not freely consented to.
5. Facilitation of human or sex trafficking. Using Kidan to recruit, advertise, transport, harbour or exploit any person for commercial sex, sexual exploitation, forced labour or forced marriage, or to facilitate, aid, abet or encourage human or sex trafficking in any way.
6. Scams and fraud. Any scam or fraudulent activity intended to deceive or defraud Kidan members, including romance scams, requests for money, gifts, gift cards or cryptocurrency, fake investment schemes, phishing and impersonation.

Breaking any of these rules leads to immediate and permanent removal of the account. Content involving children, human or sex trafficking, or sexual violence is also reported to the police and the relevant authorities, as described in our Child Safety Standards and Law Enforcement Guidelines.

Other community rules

• No Human Trafficking, Sexual Exploitation or Abuse: Kidan must never be used for human trafficking or sexual exploitation of any kind, including forced or coerced relationships, prostitution, escort services or paid companionship, or to aid, abet, facilitate or encourage the abuse, exploitation or endangerment of any person, including any child. Accounts are removed immediately and reported to the police and relevant authorities.
• No Catfishing or Impersonation: You must use recent, genuine photos of yourself.
• No Solicitation or Scams: Asking matches for financial assistance, wire transfers, or gift cards is strictly forbidden.
• No Explicit Media: Nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit content is prohibited. Reported content is reviewed by the Kidan team and leads to account termination.
• Respectful Interaction: Treat every member with the dignity expected in our community.

3. Free Access & Billing

Every new account receives 45 days of complimentary Founder VIP access, in every region, counted from the date the account is created. After that, VIP is a paid subscription. Prices are set in US dollars: currently $14.99 a month for the Western Diaspora and $7.99 a month in the Gulf, with discounted 3-month and 12-month plans each billed as a single payment for the period, and free access in the Horn of Africa with a daily like allowance. You are charged the equivalent in your local currency, at the rate Google Play or our web payment provider applies at the time of purchase.

If you subscribe during your free period, nothing is charged until it ends. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and can be cancelled at any time: on the website from Profile → Manage subscription, or in Google Play for subscriptions bought in the Android app. How cancellation works, and when refunds are given, is set out in our Cancellation & Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

4. Buna & In-Person Safety Recommendations

When transitioning from chat to an in-person Buna coffee date, we urge members to always meet in public locations (e.g. well-lit coffee shops, restaurants), inform friends or family of their whereabouts, and arrange independent transportation.

5. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate our community standards without prior notice.
