Kidan is a dating and marriage app for the Habesha community. This policy explains what members may and may not do on Kidan — in the Android app and on kidanapp.com. It forms part of our Terms of Service. By using Kidan you agree to follow it.
In short: be an adult, be yourself, be respectful, and never use Kidan to sell, scam, harass or exploit anyone.
1. Who may use Kidan
- You must be 18 or older.
- You may have one account, tied to your own phone number.
- You must use your own, recent photos and truthful profile details.
- You must not use Kidan if you have been banned from it before.
2. What is not allowed
- Child sexual exploitation or abuse (CSAM). No member may be under 18, and any content or conduct that sexualises, exploits, grooms or endangers a child, including child sexual abuse material, is removed, the account is banned, and it is reported to the relevant authorities. See our Child Safety Standards.
- Sexually explicit content and sexual services. No nudity or sexually explicit profile content, photos, messages or voice notes. No offering, requesting or advertising sex work, escort services, "sugar" arrangements or paid companionship.
- Sexual violence. No threatening, committing, promoting, glorifying or depicting rape, sexual assault or any other form of sexual violence.
- Non-consensual content. No sharing, or threatening to share, intimate images, recordings or messages of anyone without their consent (including "revenge porn" and sextortion), and no sexual content or contact that is not freely consented to.
- Human or sex trafficking. No using Kidan to recruit, advertise, transport, harbour or exploit any person for commercial sex, sexual exploitation, forced labour or forced marriage, or to facilitate human or sex trafficking in any way.
- Scams and fraud. No scam or fraudulent activity intended to deceive or defraud members: no asking for money, gifts, gift cards, bank or crypto transfers, investments or loans, and no romance, investment or phishing scams.
- Fake identities. No impersonating another person, using someone else's photos, creating fake or duplicate accounts, or misrepresenting your age, relationship status or intentions.
- Harassment and hate. No threats, bullying, stalking, intimidation, or content that attacks people for their ethnicity, nationality, region, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation.
- Violence and illegal activity. No promoting or arranging violence, drugs, weapons or any other illegal activity.
- Other people's privacy. No sharing another person's private information, photos or conversations without their consent, and no recording or threatening to publish private content.
- Spam and commercial use. No advertising, selling products or services, recruiting, or sending the same message to many members.
- Misusing the service. No bots, scraping, automated accounts, attempts to break security, or getting around a block, limit or ban.
3. Meeting in person
Meet in public places, tell a friend or family member where you are going, and arrange your own transport. Never send money to someone you have not met.
4. Reporting and blocking
Every profile and chat has Block and Report options. Blocked members can no longer like or message you. Every report goes to the Kidan team with the details needed to review it. You can also email kidanapp.help@gmail.com.
5. What happens if the rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, warn the member, restrict features, or suspend or permanently ban the account — without notice where safety requires it. Serious matters, including anything involving a child, threats to life, trafficking or fraud, may be reported to law enforcement. See our Law Enforcement Guidelines.
Accounts closed for breaking this policy are not refunded for the current subscription period, unless the law requires it (see our Cancellation & Refund Policy).
6. Appeals
If you believe your account was restricted by mistake, email kidanapp.help@gmail.com with the phone number on the account and why you think the decision was wrong. We re-examine the report and evidence and reply within 7 days. If the appeal is upheld, the content or account is restored; if it is refused, the decision is final.
We aim to review reports involving a child, threats, trafficking or intimate image abuse within 24 hours, and all other reports within 3 working days.
