Law Enforcement Guidelines
Last updated: 16 September 2026

These guidelines are for police, courts and other government agencies requesting information about Kidan accounts. Kidan is operated from the United Kingdom by a sole trader. Members can read how we handle their data in our Privacy Policy.

Emergencies: if there is an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm, or a child is at risk, email us with "EMERGENCY" in the subject line (details below) and contact your local emergency services.

1. How to send a request

Email kidanapp.help@gmail.com with the subject line "Law enforcement request", from an official government email address. Please include:

2. What we need before disclosing information

We disclose member information only when we are legally required to, or where the law permits it to prevent imminent serious harm. For requests from UK authorities we require valid legal process under UK law, such as a court order or production order, or a request made under the Data Protection Act 2018 where disclosure is necessary for the prevention or detection of crime. Authorities outside the UK should use the applicable international process, such as a mutual legal assistance request.

We review every request and may ask for more information, narrow it, or decline it if it is unclear, too broad or lacks a proper legal basis.

3. Emergency requests

Where there is a good-faith belief that there is an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm to a person, including a child, we may disclose limited information without legal process. Send the request as above with "EMERGENCY" in the subject line and describe the nature of the emergency. Emergency requests are handled before all other requests.

4. Preservation requests

We will preserve the records of a specific account for 90 days on receipt of a valid preservation request while formal legal process is obtained, and can extend this once on request.

5. Information we may hold

When a member deletes their account, their data is removed from the live service straight away and from backups within 30 days, so it may no longer be available. Abuse reports and payment records are kept for longer, as described in our account deletion page.

6. Notifying members

We may tell a member about a request for their information unless we are legally prohibited from doing so, or telling them would endanger someone or obstruct an investigation.

7. Child safety

Kidan is for adults only. Content involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of children is removed, the account is banned, and the matter is reported to the relevant authorities. See our Child Safety Standards.
